Happy Birthday Waleed

Dear Waleed,

Happy Birthday! I'm sorry I'm emailing a day late, but it's entirely Mama and Baba's fault. In the future I won't forget, I promise.

It was so good to meet you finally! And I have to tell you, I had a ball. Normally I'm not too keen on little boys. Little girls, of course, are entirely another matter. But I just felt I shared a bond with you. I probably couldn't respond with as much dexterity as I would've liked (yeah, I've been reading, hence the vocabulary), but I hope you understand that I''m a few months behind you. Just know that I really enjoyed our meeting, and I'm looking forward to a long and wonderful friendship with you.

Okay, enough of the mushy stuff. So tell me, how did you spend your birthday? Any tips for me when mine comes around? I hope I am in the US with Mama and Baba when it does, so we can have you over and celebrate it together. I do miss Mama and Baba sometimes, though, to be honest, I'm having a whale of a time here in Lahore. Nano, Nana and Khala take such good care of me! And they spoil me, too, which I've heard is something parents don't do. I still keep Nano up at night sometimes, but that's because I'm teething. I love crawling, and my favorite spot in the entire house is the mosaic in our front lobby.

Anyway, now that we've met, do keep in touch. Looking forward to hangin' with you, ma' man!

Lots of love,
Faiz.

P.S. I picked up the slang lingo from my mamoons, who want me to be cool. I'm not sure how Mama would feel about it. So let's keep it our little secret, okay?
P.P.S. Do you think it's cool?

Warning from Faiz

as dictated to Tasha Khala:

Dear Mama, Baba and Mausi

Next time when you put your finger in my mouth you will definatly be bitten by me...Cause I have a tooth now. My first tooth appeared. Its the bottom front right one. I dont let anyone feel it or see it as i am waiting for the others to appear before my secret is revealed. Anyway i have become a very happy baby with the arrival of my tooth and i also rest peacefully.

Love
Faiz

Standing Tall

Yes, Faiz stands unsupported for the first time. Historic moment caught by Tasha Khala last night.

Stand firm in your refusal to remain conscious during algebra. In real life, I assure you , there is no such thing as algebra.
- Fran Lebowitz

Hmm... refusal is not a choice, it sort of come naturally.
