Picked these up from the Pakistani Fulbright group. Now there's always some truth to jokes... right? The army is really generating a lot of bad rap by focusing more on consolidating its political power base, and less on strengthening Pakistani institutions. This could finally be the last army rule, but not for reasons that the army would have liked.
Army song parody:
"Aey watan key sajeeley jernaelo,
Sarey RAQBEY tumhaarey liey hain,
KOTHIYUN key talabgaar ho tum,
PLOTOUN key parastaar ho tum,
O zalalat ki zinda misalo,
yeh patwari tumharey liey hain,
aey watan key..."
Army Niyyat-i-Namaaz:
"Main Niyyat karta hoon 100 Acre zameen ki,
6 commercial plot farz,
2 residential plot sunnat,
waastey apni family key,
Muhn mera DHA kee tarf:
ALLAH-O-AKBAR"

Want to desire
Too often, the thing you want most, is the thing you can't have
Desire leaves us heartbroken, it wears us out
Desire can wreck our life
But as tough as wanting something can be,
The people who suffer the most
Are those who don't know what they want.
- Gray's Anatomy, 4/27/07

Patience
"Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return." They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance." [Quran 2:155-157]

Out and about in Princeton
The weather isn't really getting better, but we still forced our way out the past couple of weekends. PJ's is becoming a regular hangout.

Thought of the day: Happiness
Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.
Ernest Hemingway (1899 - 1961)
Hmm... I hope were not spending all these years acquiring 'intelligence.' Intelligence is such a distraction anyway. Makes you feel like you have to get up and do something with it. So tiring. My kingdom for some bliss...
